With the massive quantities of snow that impaled Chicago over the last week, my schedule cleared up. This week, I've spent more time lounging on my couch than the whole beginning of the year combined. I've been teetering on the edge of boredom & stir-crazinesss all week long!

For example, we watched the full season 4 of Big Love in two sittings. That's 9 hours of TV, folks. Anyways, what a disappointing season! Too many sensational subplots! Ugh.

Mostly, I've been rehearsing my new act, "Conflicted Seduction" (no video, yet), and working on some new choreography for it. I'm really excited about this act and when I finally do have good video, you'll understand why, I think. I'm hoping to perform it at the Feb 19 Show & Tell Cabaret show:

Other than that, traveling & travel plans are definitely keeping me on my toes. I've got my ace prop-maker working on a giant strawberry for my Sweets act, and I'm hoping to commission another friend to make new underthings for the above-mentioned act (which I'll also be performing at WCBF and other fests), and I'm actively pursuing a relationship with a blues guitar player for yet another new (non-stripping, I think) act. And I've got two more ideas in the queue!

2011 will have more new acts than 2010! (Which only had two - Ar-Tease-T and Conflicted Seduction)

It's hard to believe that this month marks my 3-year anniversary in burlesque.

There's a lot of shifting and moving around. With other shows using some of our favorite go-to performers, we're in a place where we're going to have to infuse some new blood into the community to keep our shows filled with good talent. To that end, I'm training about 20 girls to become brand new burlesque dancers in the community. Some are doing it for a lark, I'm sure...but I'm hoping others will stay and do their part to influence the scene toward quality, thoughtful acts.

March & April are going to be filled to the brim with debuts. In February, you can expect the debut of Bella Ciao, Paprika Ame, and our tip-top notch photographer, Kriss Abigail (who will be announcing her burlesque name shortly)!

And so, it has begun.
