I spent the last couple of days in Minneapolis, soaking in the, er, sun and watching act-after-act-after-act at the Best of Midwest Burlesk festival.

There were lots of really amazing acts, and I could go on and on, but here are some of my personal highlights:

Trixie Little & The Evil Hate Monkey
If you want proof that a really good act never gets old, I actually saw this act 4 times at the festival and was still screaming my lungs off when they performed the last time. The timing, the movement, the steaming hotness of both Trixie and Monkey. I swooned.

Chicago Starlets
They did a cute showgirl piece with matching black underthings and boas. With smooth, rehearsed steps, it was easy to see why they won best troupe at MEW2010. Fancy!

Jeez Loueez
And not just because I'm biased! With 5-6 cycling splits (why get up from a split, when you can just turn over and do another one?!), it was no surprise that this top-notch tap dance piece was one of only a half-dozen acts in the whole festival that I saw get a standing ovation. We love this Vaudezilla performer!

Jett Adore
He's gorgeous, a great dancer, and has more than his fair share of charisma. He performed a very sexy piece involving purple ribbon and a fur coat. Truthfully, I could watch an entire festival of just him and the Stage Door Johnnies.

Midnite Martini
By far, my favorite act of the festival, Midnite Martini did an aerial act and a floor act that boasted the most sensual, creative removal of stockings I've ever seen. I was blown away by her timing and approach. Incredible!

Minnie Tonka
Minnie did an act involving baking cookies that proved yet again that an act can be simultaneously sexy & funny. An absolute riot!

Nadine Dubois
One of the best hosts. Ever. That's all.

Ophelia Flame
I loved her Xerox act. Hilarious, clever, energetic. Just what I like in a conceptual burlesque act. This was another act that I saw numerous times and loved it every time. Very very cute. And sexy. And funny.

Ray Gunn
No one moves on a pole the way Ray Gunn moves on it. A masterpiece!

Sasha Darling
Although I'd never seen this Chicago Starlet perform before, she is someone who's been mentioned as a Chicago favorite numerous times in my Spotlight on Chicago Burlesque series, and I was not disappointed. Great timing and movement. Loved the makeup, too!

Stage Door Johnnies
Duh. :)

I love Trixie Little and the Evil Hate Monkey! I saw them several years ago at a Burlesque-a-pades show at Martyr, absolutely adore everything about their act. Huge TL & TEHM fan.
