I remember when weekends used to be time off!

This weekend, I did a lot of performing. I dropped in with the Beast Women at the Fine Arts Bldg to do a test run of my Sleigh Ride act before heading over to the Lincoln Tap Room to perform it on video. The new choreography includes - believe it or not - a pirouette! At Beast Women, I'd say I really nailed it! At Lincoln Tap Room, I didn't consider my space enough and had to squish it a little bit - not as good!

But still, I've got a friggin' pirouette in one of my acts! Those of you who struggle at the dancing portion of burlesque will be able to relate to my excitement, I'm sure.

Worked at a corporate event on Saturday where Vaudezilla was hired to create ambience a la some adorable cigarette girls handing out candy cigarettes. It was quite the swank event, and certainly very educational. Looking forward to more gigs like that one in 2011, and I know the girls are, too! ;)

Afterwards, I headed over to Spybar to do a couple acts, which went over very well. The acid test for me is always how many women approach me after the acts. I consider myself very accessible, so when so many women approach me after my act that I can't make it back to the dressing room - I feel very accomplished! The ladies were certainly into my acts. I did "Pit Stop," "Conflicted Seduction" (new piece, no video yet!), and "Sleigh Ride" (complete with fairly competent pirouette on a tiny box stage).

On Sunday, I got to DJ for the Pinups for Pitbulls event, where I met several dogs and a couple kittens that I really really really really wanted. One white & grey three month old kitten was particularly heartwrenching when she fell asleep several times while I was holding her.

Yes, please?

I know Waffles would have loved her, but Maya...probably not so much.

We also got some great advice on how to keep helping the cats get along with eachother better. Apparently, Maya may want more vertical space...so we bought a catbed and put it on the refrigerator! And another little one for on top of the kitchen cabinets.

I think that officially makes us "Cat People." Ugh...

Who am I kidding? I love it!

Today, I managed to get pretty caught up. I've got to drop off my Xmas presents for The Girls tonight at a seamstress so they can be finished in time for rehearsal tomorrow. What are they? Well, just wait - you'll see soon enough!

Then it's semi-private Vixen classes with Bella Ciao, MK Sedgwick, Paprika Ame, Pepper Papparazzi, and a couple of new faces, which should be really fun. These girls will be focusing on a new act that they will debut in February/March at Vaudezilla shows - really refining the choreography, costume, and general story of the acts. But this month, we're just going to dance and loosen up. It's very exciting because some of these girls have been with us for a year or more, and some are brand new!

And tonight is the final rehearsal for my Chicago class at Demaira Dance Studio...the ladies will be performing in the Student show on Dec 18 (before Show & Tell Cabaret) at the Portage Theatre. I'm hoping to get video of these ladies strutting their stuff!
